Without rehashing all the stuff said in other reviews, I want to focus on the things that nobody has mentioned. My view comes from having used various GPS devices since the old Garmin 45 single channel marine unit back in the early 1990s. For this review, I’ll be comparing to my favorite routing Garmin product, the eTrex Vista Cx.

One of the things I solely miss with the Nuvi line is the level of customization that Garmin has in other devices. For example, on the eTrex, every data field can be customized to provide whatever data you want. So, on my map screen I keep “Distance to Next” and Distance to Destination”. With the Nuvi 755t, the “Distance to Next” is provided on the top next to the direction bar which is nice, and now I can also have the “Distance to Destination” on the lower display. I do wish I could do a similar change of value with the speed display on the left.

I only have this unit for 10 days, and so far, it’s working the way it is supposed to. I have not encountered any glitch at this point, and I can’t comment on the TMC as there is no coverage for this feature where I live. But Dan Nichols posted a pretty extensive review on October 9, ‘08, and I must say that I totally agree with his comments.

I have had my 755t for a week. This is my third gamin. When this unit works properly it looks and operates great. I bought it mainly for the lifetime traffic alert and no pop up antenna.

I’ll address what was my biggest apprehension in going for an ad based, free traffic program. No issue! The ads are small and not at all intrusive. My eyes never were pulled in a way that was a distraction. I can even envision the few occasions that it might even benefit both the advertiser and the user. If you think about it … newspaper, radio, internet, TV … advertising is very much a part of our culture and in this case very tastefully done.
